My Background

I didn’t take the typical path to becoming a therapist

Before I stepped into private practice, I spent more than two decades in roles that demanded calm under pressure and resilience in crisis, serving first in the military and then as a paramedic in a metropolitan emergency service. Those years shaped my understanding of trauma, resilience, and the quiet courage it takes to rebuild when life feels unmanageable.

I’ve stood alongside colleagues as they navigated PTSD, burnout, and moral injury, offering support in spaces where silence often reigns. Alongside this, I’ve worked with women rebuilding after domestic violence, individuals in recovery from addiction and homelessness, and families learning to reconnect after instability.

Having personally journeyed through trauma, burnout, and identity transformation, I believe that healing doesn’t happen in isolation, it happens in connection. The heart of my work lies in helping people build healthier relationships with themselves and those they love, interrupting cycles of generational trauma, and nurturing self-compassion, meaning, and hope.

Why I Do This Work

What I bring to the room that most therapists can’t

It’s not just qualifications that make a good therapist, it’s who they are, what they’ve been through, and whether they can sit with you in the difficult places without looking away.

Military Service

More than two decades began with service in the Australian military, an experience that gave me a deep understanding of discipline, duty, and the invisible wounds that come with serving. I understand the culture, the pressure to be strong, and the cost of carrying what you’ve seen when silence often reigns.

Paramedicine & Crisis Work

Years as a paramedic in a metropolitan emergency service taught me to be calm when things are falling apart, to hold space without judgement, and to sit with raw human emotion. I’ve also worked alongside women rebuilding after domestic violence, individuals in recovery from addiction and homelessness, and families reconnecting after instability.

Lived Experience of Trauma

Having personally journeyed through trauma, burnout, and identity transformation, I don’t just understand these experiences from a textbook. My own path through therapy, the hard work, the breakthroughs, the days when it felt impossible, is what convinced me that healing is possible. It changed my life. That’s why I do this work.

Children & Adolescent Training

As a mother of two, I bring not only professional expertise but a lived appreciation of the complexities of family life, the push and pull between love, boundaries, and growth. My additional training in counselling children and adolescents means I understand young people’s emotional worlds on their own terms, not just as an extension of their parents’ concerns.

Gottman Trained

Trained in the Gottman Method, the most extensively researched approach to couples therapy in the world. This training allows me to work with couples using a structured, evidence-based framework built on four decades of relationship research.

Depth, Not Surface

I chose IFS and psychodynamic training because I believe in therapy that goes beneath the surface. If you want someone who’ll give you a worksheet, I’m probably not the right fit. If you want someone who’ll help you understand why you are the way you are, and change it, that’s what I do.

How I Work

What you can expect in the room with me

I’m direct but warm. I won’t let you stay comfortable if staying comfortable is keeping you stuck, but I’ll never push you somewhere you’re not ready to go. You set the pace. I bring the honesty.

I believe healing doesn’t happen in isolation, it happens in connection. Every session is guided by empathy, trust, and respect for your pace and your story. I don’t use clinical jargon. I don’t sit behind a clipboard. Sessions at Liberty feel like a real conversation with someone who genuinely cares about what happens to you, because that’s exactly what they are.

All individuals, couples, and families are welcome. I see clients in person at my Buderim practice and online via secure telehealth for anyone across the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, and all of Australia. Whether you need clarity on something specific or longer-term work to shift deep patterns, I’ll meet you where you are.
